Environmental Biotechnology Course

Environmental Biotechnology Course

Students learn survey, analysis, and evaluation methods for assessing environmental contamination in a variety of practical classes. Students also learn about protection of the ecosystem and environment, technologies to improve contaminated environments, global warming, and climate change. Qualification improvement is fully supported.

Cosmetics Biotechnology Course

Cosmetics Biotechnology Course

Top-class instructors from big cosmetic companies teach students all about cosmetics, from the theory to production. Students gain understanding of cosmetics through practical classes for producing various cosmetic products, such as skin lotions and conditioners, while acquiring skills to create high-quality products.

Environmental Biotechnology Course

1st Year

The first-year curriculum covers a wide range of environmental biotechnologies from the basics to specialized subjects.

2nd Year

The second-year curriculum includes classes for gaining advanced skills in the environmental field.

Cosmetics Biotechnology Course

1st Year

The first-year curriculum includes classes for learning the basics of science and beauty and cosmetics.

2nd Year

The second-year curriculum includes classes for improving skills in cosmetics development.

Course Content

Environmental Biotechnology Course

The curriculum includes classes for learning about the atmosphere and weather, causes and current situation of contamination, water usage, and causes and current situation of pollution. The curriculum also covers environmental management mechanisms, risk evaluation, and safety, as well as ecology investigation, water quality inspection, and soil analysis.


Cosmetics Biotechnology Course

The curriculum includes classes for learning about cosmetics manufacturing techniques, chemistry and health regarding beauty, culture of beauty, and roles, components, and usage of cosmetics, through production of various cosmetics. Students also learn about quality management and new product development of products which meet quality standards.

The curriculum includes many field practicums, such as air contaminant measurement and river water quality surveys, in order to provide students with opportunities to learn about the environment practically.

With employment opportunities in a wide range of industries in recent years where the environmental field is attracting world-wide attention, almost all of the students who wanted to work full time after graduation could reach their goals.

We provide students with support from all aspects in qualification improvement for better employment opportunities. Each student in the Environmental Biotechnology Department has an average of seven certifications, including Certified Environmental Measurer, Environmental Measurement and Analysis Expert Certification, Pollution Control Manager Certification, Biotope Planners and Builders Certification, Environmental Specialists Certification (Eco Test), and Responsible Technical Manager Certification for Cosmetics Manufacturer.

Students who successfully completed the course may enter the third year of Tokyo University of Technology, which has a Katagiri Advanced Research Laboratory on campus. Students who want to be a researcher may continue to study at the Graduate School of Tokyo University of Technology.

From a Teacher

My class aims to train engineers working in the front lines of preventing global warming and of environment conservation. I use projector images to allow students to visually understand the ecosystem, water cycle, current environmental crises, techniques for environmental analysis and water treatment, and so on.
